The idea of the project is to enlarge and renovate the existing building, while preserving the surrounding architectural environment and blending the new construction into the existing ensemble as it had been before the intervention.

For this reason, in the exterior, the building keeps its characteristic architectural appearance. A new storey is added on top, hidden under a mansard roof, characteristic for the buildings from this period. The new façade detail follows the existing one with pilasters, cornices, and window frames. The colours are the same as the original ones.

In contrast, the interior has a contemporary design with clean lines and modern detail. It has exposed brick masonry walls and polished-concrete floors. The new glass volume of the foyer in front of the south façade connects fluently the gallery with the park and the sculpture exhibition.
